Hi everybody! This is our fourth session. Next week, we'll finish the course on idioms with a grand revision finale! |

"What's cooking?" is an idiomatic expression that means "What's happening?". But if my answer to that is "a mouthful", you may get tired of listening... |

My grandmother, a "saucy" lady, used to say "when life gives you lemons, you gotta make lemonade"... So, being alone in a new town, and with a small capital, I decided to open a little cake shop to cater local cafeterias and families. I think it's a "kosher" idea. Also, to keep up the positive vibe, I guess I'll name it "A Piece of Cake". If my economy is slow and initially I have trouble to make my "bread and butter", I can ask for a loan. "That's the way the cookie crumbles" for new entrepreneurs! And besides, I know my business is not "a lemon". Actually it can be "the greatest thing since sliced bread". It sure is an excellent feeling to start a new life "from scratch" and put all your "salt and pepper" into it. Even if it means taking a few risks or going "out of the frying pan, into the fire", I think it is definitely better than a "white bread" existence. Don't you? |
